The Lady in Red is a viral photo taken by Osmn Orsal for Reuters of the protest in Turkey. While the Lady in Red went viral on the Internet over night, is only beginning to show up in U.S. media. The Lady in Red has became a symbol for dissidence. The photo speaks volumes, especially since this is a woman from a part of the world where women are beginning to demand their rights more than ever before. I see her as a symbol for all women repressed by the greater society.
